The church hasn’t been able to give room for the Word of God to manifest in our hearts. To this, apostle Paul said, “having a form of godliness but denying its power”. (3:50). We profess our love for Christ, yet we don’t show it to those in need. We claim to be children of light, yet whenever we see one in need and we seldom help. -Godwin Owulo
It is in no doubt that the church is trying its best to ensure the world is won back to Christ which is His heartbeat. This was why He(Jesus) came to die so all men can be saved for the slavery of the world and sin. But funny enough and most unfortunate, the more the church keeps growing, sin is keeping up proportionally. Thus is why we left with the question why do sin keeps multiplying in spite of the multiplicity of churches which are meant to dash away sins. Below is an insightful piece written by Godwin Owulo, a gospel music producer living in Benue state.
Why do sins keep prevailing in spite of many churches?
In 2. Timothy 3, Paul was addressing Timothy on how terrible times would become. In 2 Tim 4:3-4, he said, “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. NIV”.
Apart from the fact that we are living in the end times, some of the reasons why sin will never end from the church is because our men of God seldom frown at sin anymore. Most churches do not preach against fornication, which has eaten deep into the lives of the youths. Message about sin is hardly preached at the pulpit. All we hear these days are sermons upon sermons on prosperity.
Cunningly, most of these messages end with, “before you can make it, you must give your life to Chrsit”. Brethren, tell me, who wouldn’t give his/her life to Christ in order to be wealthy? The basis of salvation is not to become wealthy or somewhat expectant. He loves us unconditionally, so we need to give Him our love not minding what we will gain in return. Shedrach, Meshach, and Abednego said, “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. “But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” Daniel 3:17, 18 (NASB)
Sin will continue to prevail until we are able to abide by the principles in the Word of God. Until we become dead to our flesh, we can never live to please the father. Until we understand that we’ve been crucified with Christ, therefore the life we now live isn’t ours but He’s, evil would continue to prevail.
Summarily, we need to believe the wholesomeness of the word of God by applying every bit of His principles. This is how we can make the world the place God has made it naturally to be.
