MEMORY VERSE: “Say to those who have an anxious heart, “Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.” Isaiah 35:4 [ESV]
It is common to hear dreadful terror of the imminent day of final verdict of the Lord. The solemn whisper of eternal damnation keeps resounding in the ears of men, following the warning of the saints to the world. Sometimes it sounds like it’s all going to be pain for all, but this is not true – the very last day, the day of judgement, is going to be a day of total redemption of the Saints. As we, however, look forward to that day, we have a reason to encourage one another.
“The night is far spent and the day is at hand.” We have to wake up and plan for the day because there is weeping in the night, our joy comes with the morning (Psa 30:5). If this then be the case, we have to speak words of life and encouragement to one another (Eph 4:29, Col 4:6). Comfort the people of God as it is written, “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins” (Isa 40:1, 2 [KJV]).
People are sick, helpless, lovelorn, despondent, dejected and stranded. They need helpful utterances and blessings. Some people are helplessly struggling with some thorns they wish God had taken away and may never know God’s grace is sufficient for them (2 Cor 12:9); you can inform them.
Some years ago I was struggling with masturbation. All my prayers, study of the scriptures, attendance in church, seek for help, all proved abortive. I would cry and would see myself as the worst sinner ever. There was a day, during this period of despondency that I felt like I should just harm myself because I felt there was no going out of this thing. I didn’t lust after opposite sex but I masturbated anyways. The good news is, now, it is a story of a long time ago. The spirit of God comforted me and I wished I had someone who could understand what I was passing through.
Brethren, the powerful word of God and the standard of God cannot be lowered for the sake of anything. We, however, need to know that there are moments we just have to comfort the people and let them know how much God cares, sees, knows and understands them while we let the Holy Spirit carry out His work of conviction in the hearts of men. Sometimes, when they are feeling guilty and are crying, we may need to speak tenderly to them, assuring them of the love of God.
Are you being persecuted and assailed on every side? Are you in a turbulent situation that might have broken things bad for you? Just know this in time that GOD WILL COME AND SAVE YOU!
PRAYER: Father, thank you for giving me your word. Let it be unto me according to your word to speak tenderly to your people and know also that you will come and save me. So help me God.
SOUL DESSERT: Isa 35:1-5; Psa 46:10-11; Gal 6:16-18.
