MEMORY VERSE: “He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal”. (John 12:25 NIV).
In the military, soldiers are trained to keep their assigned zones. When they are on duty, the spanned territory under their guard, say post, is never vacated no matter what except the commander commands otherwise. The rage of threat does not nullify, neither does it abate the solemnity of the course they are obliged to take. Therefore, they are left with no other option than to hate their lives in order not to get entangled with civilian emotions no matter what may beset them. As a Christian, you’ve got to know now that you are a soldier in God’s army.
As a soldier of Christ, you are a product of God’s recruitment, and you have just Him to please, even He that enlisted you. It is written, “No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer”. (2 Timothy 2:4 – NIV).
You might have or will come to a point where you might be tempted to leave your duty post either to help in another’s territory or for fear of getting defeated to death, none of which is a pardonable excuse.
We have to come to a point where our fear of God will supersede our fear of death, when our lives tend to vie with God’s command for sustainability. We will need to remember to ask for grace to obey God’s command at the expense of our lives. Although, it sounds easier than done but with God, nothing shall be impossible (Luk 1:38).
Finally, brethren, we are soldiers in God’s army. We have our duty post assigned to us and we must fight to defend our territory which is faith (Jude 1:3 KJV). As long as we are in this faith, we must seek to please our Commanding Officer, Jesus Christ. According to Jam 1:12 and Rev 2:10, the crown of life awaits those that defend their territories, enduring trials, overcoming temptations and probably having to die for their territory – Faith. If you must die, die at your post!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, my Commander, help me to be courageous enough to keep, and if need be, die at my post. I will be a true soldier and die at my post. So help me God in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
