Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 27:14) NIV
PEACE is a fellowship, harmony & unity between individuals & God. it’s also a state of assurance, lack of fear & a sense of contentment.
One can not talk about PEACE as a Fruit of the Holy Spirit without knowing the Holy Spirit; The Holy Spirit is one person in the Holy Trinity.
PEACE as the Fruit of the Holy Spirit doesn’t just come but must be worked for. Someone who is not in a relationship with God is in a state of unrest because of sin. His heart, soul & mind are not at peace & serene because they are in opposition to the Lord. Once a person repents & accepts Christ as his Lord & Savior they are granted peace. This peace comes from having his sins forgiven & the privilege of having a relationship with his Heavenly Father as recorded in Rom. 5:1
Of course if a Christian fails to trust in God & obey the Word of God, his peace will reduce because he is out of fellowship with the Lord. Galatians 5 addresses the conflict that can arise between the Spirit & the flesh. As long as a Christian lets the Word of God dwell in them richly & lives according to the Word they will be filled with the Holy Spirit & the fruit of the Spirit will be manifested in their life. Remember Peace from God is part of the Fruit. How do we maintain the peace:
Be impregnated with the word, be deeply rooted in Christ, abort every form of earthly desire, don’t only go to church but be fully committed & surrender to God in totality.
Finally, it’s that peace that can sustain or give a man confidence when the economy of the nation or the world market crashes.
May God of hope fill you with all joy & peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
