MEMORY VERSE Joshua 1:9 .”Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
TEXT: 2 Chr 25:1,12; 1 Jn 2:22
Courage refers to “the quality of a confident character not to be afraid or intimidated easily but without being incautious or inconsiderate”
Be strong and courageous was the charge God gave Joshua when he took over from Moses. *I challenge us today to be strong and courageous for us to surmount the insurmountable, for He that is in us is greater than he who is in the world.*
The presence or absence of courage is what makes some people say ” it is easy, I can do it, it is possible” and others “it is difficult, I can’t do it, it is impossible”.
It is not size, might or strength that makes one to win a race but the amount of courage in him or her. Saul was said to be the tallest man in Israel but wasn’t courageous to face Goliath.
When you are not courageous, you seem to be comforted by comparison of yourself with anyone or any obstacle. He is richer than me, he is taller, he is smarter. If David had compared his size with Goliath, he wouldn’t confront him.
One thing we must depart from is, believing lies about ourselves and what we can do. We fail not because we can’t do well, we perform poorly because someone told us it’s difficult, no one has done it eg. We don’t understand Maths in our family, A woman cannot be this or that etc
Father, grant us the courage to steer the course of our faith devoid of unnecessary fear; but the fear of you alone, until we exchange the faith for our crowns in heaven.
