On this edition of Artist Spotlight and Personality Focus, I have with me on the reel, Christy King. Christy is one of the powerful voices I hear around me. This is not far fetched from the fact that Grace abound and she’s always tapping from it.
She’s an embodiment of character. I mean good character with a very large heart made up of gold. I’m not inflating her. Chris is my name and I’m telling you what I know.
I’m her name sake, no, she’s my name sake. (laughs). Please read on and get to know your favorite gospel music artist, Christy King.
Chris: The name Christy King has been become a household name in the music scene especially in Benue state, can you take a few lines to tell us just a bit about yourself and the stage name “Christy King”?
CK: Thank you very much Chris, I am Mrs Christy EzeNwokoma from Kogi state, a graduate of Biology Education from BSU Makurdi. Wife of Pst Great EzeNwokoma and a mother of 3 amazing children. A Music Minister known as Christy King with a mandate to Preach the gospel of Jesus Christ through Music.
Chris: Ok, amazing! I understand that you are a mother, wife and an entrepreneur, how do you combine these with your singing ministry?
CK: Two words summarises it GOD’S GRACE.
Chris: As high performing artist in the state, you are invited to attend a lot of concerts and events, this is so because you are one of the best in town, how did you come about this popularity and fame?
CK: Well I won’t say I’m invited to these events coz I’m one of the best, I would say it’s my season to the glory of God and it’s a great privilege to be called into the ministry by God himself.
Chris: I see, that’s interesting. There are lots of testimonies of lives being touched during your “Before the throne” concerts, can tell us more about that event?
CK: To the glory of God I agree with you that Before the Throne has touched lives, personally I have been immensely blessed by each Season. BTT is an annual gathering of Worshippers and Lovers of God where we come together with one voice and in one accord to pour out our hearts in worship to the one and only true God.
Chris: OK, Before the Throne is an annual event, do you charge people who attend your concert? If yes or no, why?
CK: No I don’t charge, because I’m not led to for now.
Chris: Are there any differences between a gospel music minister(mic minister) and a pulpit minister, that is, a pastor?
CK: The Pastor preaches the gospel in spoken words while the music minister in songs.
Chris: I know gospel music is ministerial, that is, to further the course of the gospel of Jesus Christ, why do some artists charge or offer entrant ticket which are heavily paid for before being ministered. Are they not trading the gospel?
CK: They must have their reasons for doing it so I can’t judge them.
Chris: You have a lot of songs to your credit right. Which is your favourite among them?
CK: I really don’t have any favourite song, they all bless me in different ways and accomplish their individual purposes.
Chris: You have a new single coming up in a bit, what is the title and what inspired you to make that song?
CK: Yessss IFUNANYA(LOVE), first of all my love for my husband inspired it and secondly I have observed over the years that women seldom write love songs, it’s been the Men over time showing the love via songs so yeah the brothers need to also hear us express our love for them in a song.
Chris: You have found yourself among many other music ministers, how is your relationship with them?
CK: Awesome Awesome, and Amazing I tell you.
Chris: Apart from grace (this is what many of us believe in) what role do social media and the internet play in your ministry?
CK: Waooo a great deal I must confess, I’ve met alot of amazing people on social media who encourage me and pray for me. Also, invitations have come via contacts from the social media as well, so I have gained positively from it and it will continue, Amen.
Chris: Amen, have you ever promoted your any of your work with soulzmp3 gospel website? If yes, what’s your experience? If no, why?
CK: Yes Soulzmp3 helped to promote 3 songs from my last album and they did a good job.
Chris: What’s your advice to upcoming acts to enable them attain great feats in their calling?
CK: Stay focused, have a sound relationship with the Holy ghost consistently, be Youself!
Chris: Alright momma Christy King (you know that’s how I call you) thank you for being our guest in this edition of artists spotlight and personality focus. More grace to you.
