TEXT: Eph. 4:1-4, Col 3:12-17
MEMORY VERSE: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Col. 3:1, 2)
In our devotion yesterday, we got to understand that as Christians, we’ve been called out: by Grace, not works. We had nothing to do to influence this call, and there’s nothing we can do evade it! Our only responsibility is to ensure that we constantly live in the consciousness of this calling.
But do we really have to?
The answer is yes!
You will not fulfill the call, if you don’t pay attention to it.
“There are many voices in the world, and none of them are without significance.” In this world where we live, there’s an urgent need to define and stick with the right Voice. There are a thousand-and-one (1001) things calling for your attention; at the same time, at every moment in time. If you EVER achieve any set goal, it would be because you somehow managed to block out the wrong voices!
Please go over the text (again) at this point. Verse 16 of our second text answers the question of how we can live in this consciousness.
“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly ” Consciously determine to add to yourself spiritually. Peter(by inspiration) tells us to add self-control to our knowledge, then perseverance, then godliness, then brotherly kindness, and cap it up with love. If you follow that formula, you’ll be better suited to fulfill the call!
Beloved, we have the mind of Christ; but we must “let this mind be in us, which also was in Christ Jesus”. We cannot afford to be careless or casual. We have been enlisted into an army. We cannot live the way we like any longer, because it’s no longer our lives, but Christ’s life. We must watch our walk, so we don’t get accounted as fools.
START LIVING NOW!
*Father, I repent of every time I allowed other things take Your place in my life.
*Please help me watch my walk.
*Lord help me fulfill the mandate you’ve called me into, in Jesus’ Name, Amen
